“Six stories of healing you need to hear believe” is the subtitle of a spoken word audio program produced by upper cervical chiropractors for a public curious about natural, drug-free healing and upper cervical chiropractic care.
The program, entitled From the Neck Down, narrates the stories of six different patients of upper cervical chiropractic care””all who experienced profound healing through the procedures of the National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association.
“We picked the most dramatic stories that we could to challenge people’s ideas of what kind of healing is possible when drugs and surgery are either not working or are not an option,” said Ward, one of the chiropractors involved in the project. “These stories are meant to shock you into considering a new possibility of health.”
The stories include patients suffering from severe migraines, seizures, blindness brought on by trauma, and a heart-warming story of a baby that cannot turn his head due to an injury at birth.
The original stories were all written by Dr. Jack Stockwell of Salt Lake City, Utah and published in the student newspaper of Palmer College of Chiropractic. “These stories began as newspaper columns written by my father,” said Joshua Stockwell. “They were published to get future chiropractors at Palmer interested in helping patients by using gentle and precise adjusting procedures at the top of the spine.”
Both Ward and Stockwell say that few chiropractors use upper cervical adjusting procedures, which are gentle, have been found safe, and do not require any rotation or twisting of the head.
“I read these as a student,” said Ward, “and I kept them. I found them so inspiring that I wanted to present them to a non-chiropractic audience. Naturally I asked Dr. Josh Stockwell to help me.”
Stockwell notes that he personally knew several of the patients depicted, as they were patients during the time he worked at his father’s clinic.
